4-(trans-4-Butylcyclohexyl)phenol ist eine Modifikation von Polystyrol, die durch die Reaktion von Polystyrol mit 4-N-Butylcyclohexanol synthetisiert wird. Das Polymer weist eine hervorragende thermische Stabilität auf und kann als Beschichtungsmaterial für Oberflächen verwendet werden. Es hat sich gezeigt, dass es in Flüssigkristallanzeigen nützliche optische Eigenschaften besitzt, die auf seinen hohen Kristallinitätsgrad und seine Kettenlänge zurückzuführen sind.

4-(trans-4-Butylcyclohexyl)phenol kann auch auf mögliche Anwendungen im Bereich der molekularen Elektronik untersucht werden, wo es sich unter UV-Bestrahlung als stabil erwiesen hat.
